Hi Impact Families!

30 Hour Famine is just around the corner!

Here are a few details about the event that may be helpful.

30 Hour Famine is taking place March 21st-22nd at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Walnut Creek. Most of our activities will happen at St. Matthew. Drop-off, sleeping and pick-up on Sunday will all be at St. Matthew. This year we are doing things a little differently and partnering with several local middle and high school youth groups to do the famine. We are looking forward to coming together to fight world hunger!

To register for the event sign up at the back counter by 3/15 or email youthassistant@hopecenter.cc. Please include your student(s) name and amount of any funds raised. The cost for the weekend is $10, this covers the cost of the kickoff breakfast, break-the-fast lunch and game, activity and service project supplies. Any student that raises $100 for the famine will have that waived.

Please arrive to St. Matthew at 6am on Saturday, March 21st to kick off the weekend with breakfast! We will begin fasting at 7am.

The weekend will be filled with devotions, worship, service projects and fun! On Saturday morning, middle school students will be making sandwiches for the homeless and doing light yard work for seniors as their service project. High school students will be taking sandwiches and hygiene kits to hand out to the homeless at and around People’s Park in Berkeley.

We will have water available at all times, but we suggest that each student bring their own water bottle to refill during the weekend. We will be drinking diluted Gatorade/juice at a few key times during the weekend. For students who are afraid or unable to fast, we will have food that is easy on the stomach available.
