GRADUATING 8TH GRADERS ~ SUMMER 2015 OPPORTUNITY

Hi 8th grade Parents,

Summer is just around the corner and we wanted to remind you that Hume Lake is open to all graduating 8th graders! Spots are filling up quick and we don’t want 8th graders to get left out. This would be an amazing time for 8th grade students to connect and begin to build relationships with current high school students.Hume Lake does a phenomenal job of creating a fun atmosphere in which students hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. It is a great time for students to bring friends that may not know Jesus. We are going to summer camp the week of June 14th – 20th.  The current cost is $585 and will go up to $599 on April 5th. To register, we just need a $75 non-refundable deposit. We will be having our annual pancake fundraiser on Saturday, April 25th to help with the cost of camp. All money raised by each individual student’s ticket sales will go toward their camp account.

If you have any questions or are interested in signing your student up to go, please call or email. We look forward to having all of your students in Lighthouse soon!

Blessings,

Katie Falgien

Hi Impact Families!

30 Hour Famine is just around the corner!

Here are a few details about the event that may be helpful.

30 Hour Famine is taking place March 21st-22nd at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Walnut Creek. Most of our activities will happen at St. Matthew. Drop-off, sleeping and pick-up on Sunday will all be at St. Matthew. This year we are doing things a little differently and partnering with several local middle and high school youth groups to do the famine. We are looking forward to coming together to fight world hunger!

To register for the event sign up at the back counter by 3/15 or email youthassistant@hopecenter.cc. Please include your student(s) name and amount of any funds raised. The cost for the weekend is $10, this covers the cost of the kickoff breakfast, break-the-fast lunch and game, activity and service project supplies. Any student that raises $100 for the famine will have that waived.

Please arrive to St. Matthew at 6am on Saturday, March 21st to kick off the weekend with breakfast! We will begin fasting at 7am.

The weekend will be filled with devotions, worship, service projects and fun! On Saturday morning, middle school students will be making sandwiches for the homeless and doing light yard work for seniors as their service project. High school students will be taking sandwiches and hygiene kits to hand out to the homeless at and around People’s Park in Berkeley.

We will have water available at all times, but we suggest that each student bring their own water bottle to refill during the weekend. We will be drinking diluted Gatorade/juice at a few key times during the weekend. For students who are afraid or unable to fast, we will have food that is easy on the stomach available.

Reminder!!!

Bring your plain White T-Shirt to Impact

this coming Wednesday, March 18th

For our Impact 30 Hour Famine Pre-event!

Remember to bring in your recycle cans and bottles!!!

So far with the help of our church family Impact has recycled $130.00 worth of cans and bottles!

Parents, this weeks Impact event is to raise awareness in ALL our students concerning world hunger and that they can make a difference in large global problems.

This event is for ALL students, even those who cannot attend the bigger event!  We will play hunger related games, decorate our white shirts, & hear Lisa Shreve speak on David & Goliath.  Don't miss out!

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Impact Wednesday, March 18th

you will need to bring a plain, white .....

T-Shirt

Impact will be hosting it's mini 30 Hour Famine to include all of our students in the awareness challenge of World Hunger and that they too can make a difference in the world for Christ!

We will be creating Impact 30 Hour Famine T-shirts, so we need our students to bring their own T-shirt to decorate...those attending the weekend event can wear their shirts to the main event.

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Parents, the goal of 30 Hour Famine

is to raise awareness for world hunger.

30 Hour Famine is NOT limited to the famine event

Saturday, March 21st to Sunday, March 22nd

We are asking ALL students to raise $ for the cause.

This can be done in two ways, collect recycle cans &

create an on-line donation page.

Wednesday, March 18th from 7pm to 8:30pm

Impact will have it's own mini-30 Hour Famine event night.

If you have any concerns regarding this event

please talk to Steve or myself.

Many middle school parents are concerned with

the 30 hour famine, the sleep-over, raising money, etc.

We would love to have the opportunity to set you at ease.
